Vision of our foundation EGETEK could be Summarized under
3 headings.
1. LONGEVITY ( long life span) will have much more effect upon societies than
many people believe. Distance and continuous education will crumble the
archaic social systems of today. The wealth of knowledge will open new
frontiers in the areas of self diagnostic medicine and improvement in health
systems, communications and in the increased use of home as office and in the
election systems and politic arena. The inevitability of "Life Long Education"
will create revolutionary ideas by rendering the school entrance systems
redundant. Distance
Learning By its nature certificates in courses leading to diplomas is
inevitable. "6 YEARS OLD TO 100 YEARS YOUNG" will resound as the new
life-style. Experience in life as well as academic competence will be taken
into consideration for the Doctorate studies. The use of the best teachers in
distance learning and modern interactive videoconferencing systems leading to
Doctorate studies at home may spread sooner than one can imagine to be part of
the new life-style.
2. More and more people will prefer to live in an
innovative and creative environment. TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION LIFE-STYLE means in
some cases like "producing 63 dollar millionaires a day in Silicon Valley"
Business Week August 18, 1997
or it means a better
zone planning like in "Sophie Antipolis in Cote d'Azur" they help all to
achieve a certain life style. Scientific research will continue at its utmost
speed. To make use of the research results in the service to mankind is
another issue - it is the responsibility of the public. Therefore living
together with scientist and researcher in the technology zones with non
technical people is a must. Not only does it create color in the life-style
but also auto control for the RESPONSIBILITY OF SCIENTISTS with the
CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE PUBLIC. Scientists are often like naughty children, you
cannot leave them alone nor can you survive without them. Therefore the
quicker societies adapt to the innovative life-style the quicker we shall
achieve long seeked balance in life. Alacati-
Technology Corridor Concept - under progress Only then we shall achieve
the dream of our great leader Ataturk when he said "peace at home, peace in
the world".
3. We strive to maximize the use of the RENEWABLE ENERGY.
Quality of life depends very much living in a clean environment. Theoretical
Wind Energy Potential of Turkey We work and lobby for the increased use of
Wind, Solar, Geothermal and last but not least Hydrogen Energy. Hydrogen
energy is the ultimate source of clean energy. Producing hydrogen for energy
purposes from the non-fossil and non-nuclear sources will lead us towards a
better life.
We
are aware of the fact that "one thing certain about the future is that it
is uncertain". However, we still would like to think and create scenarios
for the future. Among the several; we could select one built on the recent
developments taking place in every branch of scientific and social research,
the speed of the knowledge-increase which will ultimately lead people to an
option to live much longer, 140 years or more, that they ever imagened.
Of course different people with diverse cultures could speculate a variety of
scenarios for their future. However - generally speaking- environmentally
clean, quiet and unstressed life styles lead to longevity. Assuming that the
purchasing power(PPP) of Turkish people today is around $7,317 (GDP $3,615)(TUSIAD-Publication
No-T/99-10/268) and that it will steadily increase to about 5 fold, to
$38,862 (GDP $17,457), in the next 25 years; creating a majority of elderly
people living in financial comfort. They will be seeking humanitarian purposes
in life. "To be needed or in a way to do something useful". This NEED
will have to be designed into the social systems of today for the next
generations. The results of the enormous research will have to find its routes
for the benefit of people, if not, then the progress is meaningless. To
nourish a positive attitude in people, a profit on learning and re-learning is
essential.
